The daring attack happened at Musanda Police Station in Mukhuwa area, Kakamega county, on Friday, February 27 at night.
How did the bandits carry out the ambush attack on the Musanda Police Station?
According to the police, the attackers, who were driving two motorcycles, first pretended to be victims before throwing guns at the officers inside the station.

According to a report recorded at about 3pm by Police Constable Brian Kipngetich, the six men arrived at the patrol station claiming their motorcycle had been stolen in Sigomere.
A Citizen Digital report revealed that officials at the station initially treated the matter as a routine report.
Moments later, riots broke out in the station, followed by gunfire that broke the stillness of the night.
Kipngetich, who was inside his house inside the police line at the time, said he heard one of the attackers signal that there was another officer before he was shot in the left side of the head.

When the situation worsened, the Officer Commanding Center (OCS) and other officers rushed to the scene and found Corporal Richard Utolo lying unconscious in a pool of blood with a visible wound on his chin.
Utolo was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, but it was later confirmed that he died from his injuries, marking a tragic end.
Two other officers were injured in the attack, including Kipngetich, who suffered a minor injury to the head, while Police Constable Finace Abura sustained an injury to his left ear.
The chaos also spread to the residence of the officers while Abura’s wife, Mary Omondi, was injured during the violence, suffering injuries to her head and right hand.
What was stolen from Musanda Police Station?
All the injured were taken to Bungoma West Hospital, where they were admitted and are receiving treatment.
After the attack, police discovered that two G3 rifles had been stolen from the station, with each gun containing 20 rounds of ammunition at the time of the theft.
Senior officers, including the Sub County Police Commander (SCPC) and the Sub County Criminal Investigation Officer (SCCIO) of Mumias West, visited the scene as investigations began.
Bloodstains were seen inside the officers’ houses, showing the scale of the confrontation, while investigators also found two hammers believed to be used to break the metal box in the station.
Police said the search operation for the stolen firearms and any spent cartridges is ongoing as agencies launch a manhunt for the six attackers, who fled on a motorcycle.
