In a press conference on Thursday, February 27, the secretary general of UDA Hassan Omar Hassan said the results were a clear sign that Kenyans had rejected what he called empty words and embraced the ruling party’s agenda of change.

“Emphasis, Decisions, Victory! With bravery and bravery, the Yellow Army has once again destroyed the content of the ‘paper mills’ and created, without rudder, without knowledge, without vision, cyber-warriors, ethnic, parochial saboteurs, sideless assistants of the old governments made by the destructive media, working aimlessly and unwisely as a divided opposition’s will to attack by turning the socio-economic revolution of more courage, courage and the most progressive in independent Kenya that has restored respect and integration at the behest of their sponsors who represent the worst of the situation,” the party said.

The UDA described the victory as a referendum on its leadership and manifesto, saying voters rejected what it described as divisive and drug-free politics.

The party claimed that the results showed the growing confidence of the public in the implementation of its development agenda and long-term economic vision.

“You are still confusing yourself in a situation where I don’t know who will become the winner, maybe it’s you. We have no time to lose, we have added. This clean contest in all the election seats that are offered stands as a strong testimony of the great faith that Kenyans continue to have in the UDA Party, its Party Leader, and its Deputy. It also shows a clear difference in the minds of the voters towards the narratives that really promise a change in livelihood and society, unlike the air politics of the Divided Opposition, which they are full of emptiness,” UDA said.

It said voters had distanced themselves from the opposition’s narratives, which they called counterintuitive and lack ideas.

“Voters are strongly rejecting a politics whose currency remains empty microphone exercises, baseless noise, and irresponsible rhetoric, often designed to fuel sentiment and ethnic division rather than provide solutions,” Omar added.

The by-election, held in Isiolo, Kakamega and Embu counties, witnessed the President’s party William Ruto winning a landslide victory, further strengthening its control before the 2027 General Election.

UDA candidates won in Isiolo South state with three ward seats; West Kabras, Evurore and Muminji, in what appears to be a strong political statement amid intense opposition pressure.

In Isiolo South, UDA’s Mohamed Tubi won the day with 7,352 votes while his closest rival, Jubilee Party’s Bina Mohamed, his elder sister, got 634 votes.

Isaack Fayo of the National Economic Development Party, who had withdrawn from the race, got 44 votes.

Despite the wide margin, the contest was characterized by low voter turnout, which residents and election officials claimed was caused by voter apathy and the ongoing Ramadan season.

In Embu County, the UDA strengthened its control in Mount Kenya by winning both Evurore and Muminji wards in Mbeere North.

In Evurore, Duncan Muratia got 7,853 votes, beating Democratic Party’s Albert Kigoro, who got 1,940 votes. Independent candidate Johnson Mate finished third with 1,753 votes.

In the neighboring ward of Muminji, UDA’s Peterson Njeru got 3,207 votes, beating Boniface Kariuki of the Decentralization Empowerment Party (DEP), who got 2,232 votes.

The party also won in West Kabras ward, completing the victory of four seats in various political and ethnic themes.
