The Kenyan transport industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of businessman and founder of Easy Coach, Azym Dossa.

Easy Coach management confirmed the death of the former managing director on Thursday, February 26. His death leaves behind a legacy and vision in the long-haul travel industry.

“Mr. Dossa’s vision, leadership and dedication shaped Easy Coach from its early days and left a lasting legacy that will be part of us as a company,” Easy Coach lamented in an official statement.

When was Easy Coach launched?

The company opened in 2003, with the first trip to go Poisonous on December 18 with one paying passenger. At that time, the Easy Coach company had three buses. It currently stands as one of the most trusted brands boasting over 30 locations.

According to Superbrands, Easy Coach transports approximately 1.2 million passengers each year within their network and their annual parcel and mail throughput is 1.3 million items. It employs more than 1000 workers.

With determination and vast experience gained from the collapsed Akamba Bus Company where he served diligently as chief financial officer, Dossa’s visionary leadership began to be seen in three years as Easy Coach expanded to 15 locations.

Today, they proudly operate more than 50 state-of-the-art buses.

Kenyans mourned the founder of Easy Coach

The Federation of Public Transport Sector (FPTS) led Kenyans to mourn the tall businessman whom many described as a father and mentor.

The FPTS condolence message conveyed a deep sense of great tragedy.

“FPTS mourns the death of Mr. Azym Dossa, the founder of Easy Coach and a true pioneer in the Kenyan transport industry. His leadership and vision raised the standards of professionalism and service in the sector. We offer our sincere condolences to his family and the entire Easy Coach team,” the federation praised him.
