Magwanga, who was elected along with the Governor Gladys Wanga in the 2022 general election, he said he was not able to help the governor effectively due to the restrictions placed on his office
He said his office was closed in December last year, which prevented him from getting services, and his official car was removed while the other one did not have fuel.
Speaking to journalists in Oyugis, Kasipul, Magwanga said the work environment did not allow him to perform his duties and he decided to resign instead of continuing to receive salary without doing his job.
Before the 2022 general election, late Raila Odinga he is said to have intervened to persuade Magwanga and Wanga to compete on the joint ticket of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Magwanga also claimed that Governor Wanga did not appreciate his decision to give up his dream of becoming governor to be his vice candidate, adding that their working relationship had deteriorated to such an extent that the public’s trust in their leadership was greatly reduced, which led to his resignation.
These two leaders, who were nominated together in 2022 on the ODM ticket, did not agree, often confronting each other over their political positions.
Their differences came to light during the Kasipul State by-election in November last year, where Wanga voted for ODM candidate Boyd Were, while Magwanga supported independent candidate Philip Aroko.
After the by-election, which ODM won, Wanga showed signs of firing his deputy governor, saying that anyone who is unhappy serving in the county should resign instead of spreading negative words about the government’s performance.
A week later, Magwanga responded bravely, saying he would not resign and told his governor to go ahead with any plan to sack him.

He warned that if any impeachment attempt fails in the county assembly, he will return the action by starting his process to impeach the governor, stressing that he is an experienced politician with his means of influence.
Magwanga also supported Wanga by publicly insulting him and ignoring his role as Deputy Governor.
He showed the event of the 2025 Power Distribution Meeting in Homa Bay, where Wanga mentioned other leaders, including his wife, but did not mention him.
The incident, he said, strengthened their already fragile relationship.
