Joseph Mureithi: A witness explains how a relative died after being thrown out of the Super Metro

Kajiado, Kenya: A witness has described what happened on the evening of February 24, when young Joseph Mureithi boarded a Super Metro bus and was allegedly thrown to his death.

Mureithi, who had recently found a job, went up three Kitengela on Tuesday at five o’clock at night after finishing his work at the gas station near Athi River.

For luck bad, the 25-year-old petrol attendant claimed pushed out by the car’s crew after a dispute arose between them.

“When he was here, he had already entered the matatu and it started to leave; after a short distance, it was like a fight started, and the young man was thrown out. It was as if he was holding a part of the door while hanging outside, and that’s when he fell down, and the matatu passed him,” said one witness.

“By the time we got there, we realized that he had fallen on his head after being thrown. Super Metro should be thoroughly questioned about the incident,” he added.

What did the Kenyans say about the incident?

Amanda Jose: “Who owns Super Metro because I think I can make this sacco better and more respectable than it is by educating drivers and conductors. Please someone give me the number, and in two months everything will be fine.”

Daisy Arizmendi Torreslanda: “Super Metro has careless drivers… they proudly pass you by. Another one hit a mother’s car and they escaped.”

Kill Shadrack: “The problem we have is mostly with the law enforcement… then the discipline is gone and corruption is everywhere… Super Metro should have already taken action. We can’t keep going around with the same Sacco every month with cases and incidents.”

Dominic Cruse: “Whatever you do to others for whatever reason, right or wrong, the law of sowing and reaping does not need your address or your date of birth; it will just find you. It is a matter of time.”

Family mourns another alleged Super Metro victim

In another case, Gilbert Thuo Kimani died after a heated argument with a Super Metro conductor over a fare of only KSh 30, and the death angered many Kenyans.

According to Thuo’s sister, the family was very saddened by the news and demanded justice for the death of the father of two children.

Makanga, who allegedly caused the death, escaped before the police had the opportunity to arrest him on the spot, while the driver, David Nderitu Njambi, was also arrested.
