The leaders, including the Kisumu women’s representative Ruth Odinga and Suba South Member of Parliament Caroli Omondi, attributed their removal on Tuesday, February 24, to political turmoil after opposing the party’s agenda.

The rebels were supporting Linda Mwananchi’s team led by the former Secretary General of the party Edwin Sifuna.

Minority Leader Junet Mohamed denied their claims, saying that the MPs took their committee positions as their right.

“Sitting on the committee is not fair. It is for the party that supports you to send you to the committee that has seen that you can serve well. It is not fair. Your right is your election as a Member of Parliament. So those people who pretend they have committee rights, we will deal with them fully,” he said.

Did Junet Mohamed warn the ODM rebels?

The fierce MP warned the ODM rebels against disregarding the party’s policies and interests.

He warned the Member of Parliament for Suba North, Millie Odhiambowho serves as minority whip, against any attempt to challenge the party, saying he would also be removed from his parliamentary committee positions.

“I wish I could come back as a whip. When I was in that position, I was very dangerous. Right now I would have whipped those people who laugh with the party. My Whip has tried to compare things. For the past 10 days he has been sleeping at night trying to compare interests. I am the one who can give him an early warning: Anyone who rejects the party will end his position on the committee so that they know it is the party that brings gifts to those sitting on the committee,” he said.

How did Millie Odhiambo face Mohamed?

Responding to Mohamed, Odhiambo strongly informed him that he has no desire to ‘paawaa,’ related to the ODM team led by Senator Oburu Oginga.

He recognized their working relationship with Mohamed and confronted him to give up his minority leadership position to him.

“I’m glad that the minority leader has agreed that I should be in the position he holds and he should be the whip. This is because the minority leader has the power of the pen. I don’t want ‘paawaa.’ He is the one who wants it.”

Mohamed later explained that Odhiambo would not be given minority leadership due to his hasty behavior.

“I know very well that he is capable, but when the party made an assessment, it was found that he has a little hasty behavior. So he was given the first order to remain as a whip,” he said.
