Edwin Sifuna Reveals Linda Mwananchi’s Manifesto Preparation for the 2027 Vote

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has explained the manifestos of ODM Linda Mwananchi before the 2027 General Election.

His remarks follow accusations that he does not have a fundamental agenda, instead he only focuses on the slogan ‘I Am Sifuna’.

A breakaway ODM group led by a senator, the governor of Siaya James Orengoand Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, among other politicians, has been opposing the broad agenda of the party and pushing a divisive agenda aimed at preventing the re-election of President William Ruto.

They also oppose the broader arrangement, citing the failure of the 10-point agenda that led to the formation of the coalition.

Speaking during an interview on NTV on Tuesday, February 24, Sifuna said Linda Mwananchi’s manifesto will not cover development that is against the provisions of the constitution.

He criticized previous politicians for using ‘shiny objects’ such as stadiums, laptops, and roads to seek elections.

He claimed that all development spending must be transparent, as mandated by the constitution, citing the auditor general’s reports that reveal the corruption and dishonesty of some government officials.

“Anyone can build a stadium. Kenya has a program problem. If you look at the constitution, it tells you the government that the people wanted, and that is what we want to create,” he said.

What are Linda Mawanachi’s manifestos?

According to Sifuna, Linda Mwananchi will adhere to the preamble to the 2010 Constitution, which recognizes the supremacy of God Almighty, respects freedom fighters, celebrates diversity, respects the environment, is committed to promoting the well-being of the individual and society, accepts the need for freedom, human rights, equality, rule of law, democracy, and social justice, and establishes a constitution for current and future generations.

“This is the entire manifesto of the Linda Mwananchi group. This is what we will give to the people in 2027. It is possible to live a life that captures all these expectations because there is a history of it,” he said.

Will Edwin Sifuna run for president?

At the same time, amid claims that Sifuna will be the candidate under the banner of Linda Mwananchi, he said that their main goal is to build a strong opposition force that can oppose the administration of Ruto in future elections.

He said the opposition will put the chosen presidential candidate through detailed consultations and political analysis driven by data within the coalition.

The politician emphasized the importance of saving the country, implying that this is an important task, and that it is a personal desire.
