Two bodies are still missing in Lake Naivasha

Brandon was just a few days away from celebrating his 18th birthday, as his distraught mother shared while visiting the lake after the calm.

One body was removed from the lake, while two others are still being searched for by the rescue team while residents are struggling to accept the tragedy.

“We have never seen strong waves like this. They were very strong. Other boats on the beach were damaged because of the big waves. They collided until they were completely damaged and cannot be used again,” said Caren Atieno, a fishmonger in Kamere Beach.

Raphael Juma, the chairman in the Kamere Beach area, called on the county government to distribute more life jackets.

He claimed that if the other fishermen had life jackets, they would have been found alive when the lake calmed down, just like their colleague.

“The Nakuru county government has given more than 600 life jackets to boat owners in the lake. Every boat owner was given a life jacket. It is not true that the county government has not fulfilled its responsibility,” said Henry Cheruiyot, the sub-county fisheries officer.
