He was shot five times, while the bullets destroyed important organs such as the heart, lungs, liver and aorta, which caused a lot of bleeding in the body and finally death.
What happened to Ong’ondo Were?
State coroner Johansen Oduor revealed that the former lawmaker died of internal bleeding.
Ong’ondo was shot five times in April 2025 along Ngong Road near Mochari City.
Investigation showed that the assailant was following the late MP with a boda boda before getting off and attacking him.

Details of his funeral revealed that the MP left behind six children. Ong’ondo had more than one wife and took care of all his wives equally.
The late MP was the father of six children: Proctor Ojola, Boyd Were, Pascal Ochieng, Ryan Odhiambo, Emmaculate Were, and Gynsen Were.
The funeral of the former member of parliament was held in May 2025 at his home in Kachieng in Kasipul constituency.
His daughter, Gynsen, has shared a touching message on social media remembering her father.
“Almost a year later, and your gap is still being felt loudly, father,” he wrote.

His mother celebrated his victory in a touching video.
He stood side by side with him during the campaign, and seeing him win touched his heart.
