Jurgen Klopp’s agent has disclosed that two Premier League sides and a couple of national teams were keen to lure him after he left his role as Liverpool manager.
Jurgen Klopp’s agent has claimed that both Manchester United and Chelsea approached the former Liverpool manager about taking over at their respective clubs after his departure from Anfield.
The German coach stepped down from his role at Liverpool in 2024, citing the need for a break from the high demands of management. He has since accepted a position as head of global soccer for the Red Bull group.
However, his long-term representative, Marc Kosicke, revealed that Klopp was a sought-after figure, attracting interest from two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, as well as national teams. Both Manchester United and Chelsea have denied these claims.

In an interview with the German website Transfermarkt, Kosicke stated, “Before joining Red Bull, Jurgen could have coached the USA or England. Probably also Germany, if Julian Nagelsmann hadn’t already been there.”
United and Chelsea Tried to Get Klopp
He continued, “Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jurgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England. These enquiries keep coming.”
Kosicke emphasised Klopp’s satisfaction with his career path, noting his unique legacy. “He’s extremely happy with what he’s achieved,” he added. “And it’s still wonderful to go down in history as one of the few coaches who only managed three clubs and were never fired.”
Since leaving his post, Klopp has maintained a low profile, making only one public return to Anfield for a match after Liverpool secured the Premier League title last season, a decision made to avoid distracting from his successor, Arne Slot.
Klopp is scheduled to return to the dugout to manage a Liverpool Legends team in an upcoming charity match against his former club, Borussia Dortmund, where he will share coaching duties with Sir Kenny Dalglish.
