A Citizen Digital report shows that this comes as questions are mounting about how the young man was able to leave the cell undetected and later return to the same area where his body was found.

According to the police, the young man has been identified as 23-year-old Edmond Rono, a resident of a nearby village.

It is said that Rono arrived at the station early on Thursday, February 12, riding a motorcycle.

The officers on duty are reported to have determined that he appeared to be drunk and decided to keep him in a cell pending further questioning.

According to previous reports, Rono did not stay in detention for a long time, as at some point during the night, he managed to escape from the locked cells.

His motorcycle was left at the station, causing immediate concern among the officers who seized it.

How was Edmond Rono’s body found?

In the early hours of Friday, February 13, officers conducting a routine inspection of the station’s premises noticed something untoward.

Rono’s lifeless body was found hanging from an electric pole in the area, while officials believe he used the hem of his sweater, tying it to an earthen wire connected to the pole.

Circumstances indicate that after escaping from the cell, the 23-year-old may have found a way back into the area undetected before committing suicide.

It is not yet known how he got into the area or if there were any security lapses during the night.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the sequence of events, including how the escape occurred and how the deceased re-entered the station.

Family members who spoke after the incident said Rono had previously shown signs of distress and tried to kill himself, but was stopped.

The body was later transferred to the Kapkatet Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to clarify the cause of death.
