The pictures showed horrific scenes of a group of alleged criminals beating up a man identified as James Kariuki Mwangi.
He was attacked and badly beaten by the men, and was left with severe injuries that later led to his death.
The incident happened at about 8:30 in the middle of the night, when even Mwangi’s cries could not attract the neighbors to help him.
Geoffrey Mosiria wants justice for Mwangi
The Chief Customer Service Officer, Geoffrey Mosiria, called on the Inspector General of Police to take immediate action.

“I request and ask the Inspector General of Police to intervene quickly and ensure that the criminals who attacked and killed this man are arrested immediately and brought to court. How is it possible that known criminals who were clearly recorded on CCTV continue to walk freely as if nothing happened and as if no lives were interrupted? This cannot be normal. This cannot be accepted. Such acts of cruelty should not be tolerated. The family deserves justice, and the public deserves safety and responsibility,” said Mosiria.
The video showed Mwangi being surrounded by the men, pushing him around as if there was a dispute.
A man tried to intervene but could not do much, as the three attackers increased their intensity and attacked the helpless Mwangi.
They pushed him to a dark place where the camera could not capture everything clearly, although it recorded part of the scene when they were beating him.
James Kariuki was rushed to which hospital?
A family member who shared the video with Mosiria said Mwangi, who is his nephew, was attacked by known people.
“We took him to the Kiambu Government Hospital and later to St Bridget’s, where it was discovered that he was bleeding inside the head. He underwent head surgery on Friday night, December 26, but unfortunately he died on Saturday, December 27. The case was reported at Gatongora Police Station by DCI Ruiru,” he said.
However, the relative noted that the suspects are still walking freely as no arrests have been made so far, while the family continues to cry for justice.
Mwangi has left behind a young family, including two sons and a wife. A photo of the children was also shared during their father’s funeral.
Kenyans express anger at CCTV video of Kiambu
People flooded the comments section after the video went viral.
Vincent Kimutai: “There is no justice in this Kenya, only you and your God. If you get hurt or die, just forget it, because the government will not care until family and friends seek their own revenge.”
Kennedy Chemjor: “My humble advice is that we avoid walking at midnight for no reason. Please, my people, value yourselves and your families to avoid such incidents.”
Duke Nyagaka: “Thank you for stepping in. Justice must be done.”
In front of Bridgit: “These should disappear one by one and never be seen again.”
Shyber Name: “When you get here, let them start getting lost one by one.”
