Joseph Kamau has been wanted for months, leaving his relatives worried about his safety and whereabouts.

When did Joseph Kamau travel to Russia?

Kamau left the country in June 2025 in search of a better life, and that was also the last time he contacted his family.

His mother expressed her fear and grief while asking the government to help her find her son and bring him home alive.

“My son went to Russia, and since then we haven’t been in touch. I don’t know if my son is alive or dead. All I’m asking is for the government to help me bring him home, because I need him alive to continue the work he was doing when he was here,” said Susan Wanjiru.

Kamau was working as a cook in a hotel along the Road Thika before getting a job offer in Moscow that had a better salary than what he was getting in this country.

Who sent Joseph Kamau to Russia?

He accepted the opportunity to work as a cook for the Russian Army, and he was not ready to turn it down.

“The last time I contacted him was when he arrived in Moscow. He told me he had arrived, and since then I have never heard from him again,” said his mother.

Wanjiru said his 26-year-old son was dealt with by a female agent who was in charge of preparing for the trip, but he did not know him personally.

Only Kamau was in contact with the agency, so his mother has no information or contact to follow up on her son.

A spokesman for the Kiambu family asked the government for help

“The woman helped him handle the documents and preparations to move. I do not know him. We have never met. Only Kamau knew him, I did not know him,” Wanjiru added.

The spokesperson of the family repeated Wanjiru’s painful words while asking the government to help them find their son.

He asked the government to create employment opportunities in the country so that when young people finish their studies, they have opportunities here at home instead of traveling abroad to find work.

“We live in fear because we don’t know where our child is, like other parents who cry because they don’t know where their children are. Please give us back our son. Give us back our children,” he said.
