James Orengo Blames Ruto for ODM’s Problems, Says Sifuna Remains SG: “He Runs Meetings”

Governor of Siaya, James Orengohas blamed President William Ruto for the division witnessed in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

During a press conference on Thursday, February 12, a day after the Nairobi senator, Edwin Sifunaremoved from the post of party secretary general, Orengo accused Ruto of sowing the seeds of discord in the Orange party.

Orengo claimed that since the death of the former prime minister Raila OdingaRuto has been participating in ODM strategic meetings, revealing that some have been held at his home in Kilgoris.

He said that the meetings have been deliberately isolating the senator of Vihiga and the deputy leader of the ODM party, Godfrey Osotsi and Sifuna.

“The problem in ODM, and I like what Senator Osotsi has said, the problem in ODM is President Ruto. We are asking President Ruto to release ODM, release only ODM. He has not taken hostages, he owns a party called ODM. He is calling meetings of ODM bodies, of course, excluding Sifuna and Osotsi. There are meetings that have been held in Kilgoris, and those in the House are many. Please, please, leave ODM alone,” Orengo said.

According to the veteran politician, the head of state is ready to kill rival political parties, adding that it is a reminder that he has warned him.

“My first meeting with President Ruto, when he was elected president, was in a village in Ugenya, I told him, and if you look at the speeches I gave where Ruto is, I urged him not to kill political parties, because I could see this happening,” the county boss added.
