In an interview with several radio stations of the Maa community on Tuesday, February 10, the DCP leader revealed his schedule that will take him to the middle of the stronghold of Ruto’s supporters before joining former Internal Security Minister Fred Matiang’i for a three-day visit to the Gusii area.

Gachagua said his visit will start on Monday, February 23, where he will stop in Narok City to thank the residents for electing Douglas Twala Masikonde of DCP in the Narok City Ward by-election.

In the November 2025 by-election, Masikonde got 6,007 votes, defeating Robert Kanyinke Ole Kyoute of UDA who got 4,479 votes.

“On the 23rd, on my way to Kisii where we have a very important meeting, I will pass through Narok City to thank the people of Narok for electing Masikonde and electing DCP. So I will be in Narok on Monday; around five in the morning I will be there to greet the people of Narok,” Gachagua said.

Why is Gachagua visiting Bomet?

The DCP leader said from Narok he will head to Mulot, a fast-growing business center along the Narok-Bomet Highway.

Gachagua said the Kipsigis and Kalenjin communities in general care a lot about him and have been wanting to meet him.

The former Mathira Member of Parliament said he is grateful to the area which he claims voted for him when he was Ruto’s running mate before their bitter disagreement in October 2024.

“Then I will pass to greet the people of Mulot, and then the Kipsigis who have been wanting to see me; I will stop in Bomet to greet the Kipsigis whom I care about. They care about me too. They voted for me as Deputy President, and I am very grateful to them, and I have not yet had the chance to come to thank them. They did not remove me from the office; William Ruto did that. I have no problem with the Kalenjins. They voted for me, and I thank them,” he insisted.

He explained that even his remarks about “shares” that were part of the arguments to remove him from power were made when he was defending the people of the area.

“They care about me a lot. I strongly defended them, even on the issue of shares; I was accused of saying that they were deprived of their shares, while I raised that point because they voted for the government but they were not benefiting. They have told me that they are also hurting; they are hurting like other Kenyans. I will go through Bomet to greet them, then I will go to Kisii. We will be in Kisii for about three days with Fred Matiang’i,” he said.

Gachagua accuses Ruto of obstructing the DCP

Earlier, the former Deputy President said he intends to announce the DCP in the Rift Valley, Ruto’s political stronghold.

However, he claimed that the president has prevented him from expanding his party outside of Mount Kenya.

He claimed that the police were sent to disrupt his visit to the Western region, thereby endangering the senators who support him.
