Peter Odero: Former Speaker of Siaya County House of Assembly Died, Leaders Mourn

Siaya residents and political parties are mourning the sudden death of the former Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Ugunja ward, Peter Odero Oor.

Odero also served as the majority leader in Siaya County before the 2022 General Election.

Governor James Orengo confirmed his death on Tuesday morning, February 10, and described him as ‘a first man, an entrepreneur, a politician with exceptional leadership skills who served his people diligently.’

The county boss also noted that Odero led many development programs within Ugunja State.

“We offer our sincere condolences to the family of the late Hon. Peter Odero Oor. May God give the family comfort and courage in this dark hour. Rest in peace, Skumb Nyadala,” he said.

The veteran ODM politician held many political positions and served the people with passion, especially in education, where he initiated the establishment of many schools and even donated land to serve the Kenya National Library Services (KNLS) in Ugunja.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed.

At the same time, several Kenyans, including leaders, have written condolences in his honor.

“It is with great pain and shock that I have heard about the death of my former boss. The owner of St. Michael’s vehicles that passed through the Kisumu-Ugunja-Busia and Sigomre roads. He is the former MCA and the founder of the Ugunja ward. He was the first majority leader in the Siaya county assembly. Ugunja has lost a major investor.”
