Social media users are commenting after a Ugandan maid killed her boss
Social media users expressed concern about the right to confess, with some questioning whether Ajok confessed out of fear or whether he fully understood the implications of his statement. Muhereza Obedi Rubango:
“He must have been mistreated for a long time, and he was certainly defending himself. There should be justice in this hearing.”
Appius Gloria:
“This case is difficult for us humans, but only God knows the truth about what happened. May God win in this case and save our sister from what she is going through. God is the final judge.”
Okumu Ronald:
“Did they interrogate him using the language he knows?”
Joseph Johnson:
“Did he confess out of fear? Was the confession made in his mother tongue? I am concerned that he may have confessed only because he was afraid. It would be important for him to speak to someone who understands his language, so that he fully understands what it means to confess and what it entails.”
