Nyeri: 19 Injured After School Car Lost Direction, Overturned and Entered Valley

Several students were injured following an accident that occurred on the morning of Saturday, January 31.

Witnesses reported that the vehicle, which was transporting students to Mahehe Friends College, lost direction and overturned in Charity Valley.

The Kenya Red Cross confirmed that its teams were carrying out rescue operations, saying;

“A road traffic incident involving a school bus that left the road and overturned has been reported in Endarasha, Nyeri County. Rescue teams have been dispatched.”

The injured were taken to Endarasha Health Center for treatment.

Along with the Kenya Red Cross, the National Police Service, the Nyeri county government, and local residents joined forces in the rescue effort, with the county sending several ambulances to the scene.

In a new statement shortly after, the Kenya Red Cross confirmed that 19 students were injured in the accident.

Those who were rescued were taken to the Nyeri County Referral Hospital while efforts to rescue those stranded continued.

“Nineteen people with injuries have been taken to the Nyeri County Referral Hospital for treatment. Rescue operations are continuing to reach those still stranded,” the Kenya Red Cross said.
