Who were the Tusker Project Fame stars?

1. Ruth Matete

Gospel musician Ruth Matete rose to fame after winning the fifth season of Tusker Project Fame in 2012.

The musician who recently moved to Canada talked about the amount he won 14 years ago. He assured his fans that he no longer had a penny of prize money.

After winning the award, Ruth moved into gospel music, a move that was not seen before, and won the Groove Awards in 2015.

He was a new gospel musician, and at that time, he won New Artist of the Year.

Ruth later fell in love with a preacher NigeriaJohn Apewajoye, but their love came to a tragic end when he died five months after their wedding.

The two married in 2020, and she was pregnant with their first child when her husband died.

Her husband died while he was suffering from severe burns he suffered following the explosion of a domestic gas cylinder.

After her husband’s death, she faced public scrutiny, with some accusing her of Apewajoye’s death. In 2024, she was released on the death of her husband.

Ruth later moved to Canada with her daughter, and has been sharing a few things about her life on social media. He continues his life of service.

2. Ng’ang’alito

Musician Benard Ng’ang’a, popularly known as Ng’ang’alito, became famous after appearing on TPF.

Although he didn’t win the prize money, the musician was among the artists who won hearts with his soulful music and charming personality.

The star had clarified that he was not bitter despite not winning the prize of KSh 5 million.

While coming from the city of Nakuruthe musician discovered his singing talent while in high school.

Over the years, the musician has left behind what made him the darling of Kenya. Many famous people often prefer to leave the limelight.

Before joining the show, reports claimed that he worked as a construction worker, and later became a mechanic.

Ng’ang’alito is among the lucky few musicians who receive support from their parents. Her father, in an earlier interview, revealed that while their family had received encouragement, they had also received equal criticism.

His mother, while restraining herself from crying, noted that she was heartbroken and angry with people who were saying bad things about her son.

The opponents did not obey Ng’ang’alito. He later released an album titled Zawadi, among other projects, before disappearing from the entertainment scene.

During the interview with Nairobi Newsrevealed that he was a program producer at a local television station.

3. Wendy Kimani

Wendy Kimani, a famous music writer and singer, rose to fame after being the runner-up of the music series.

Over the years, Kimani has done several collaborations with famous musicians such as Bien Baraza and Gilad Millo.

He also tried his hand at acting and was featured in Rush. The musician then fell in love and moved to the Netherlands.

Kimani and her husband have a son, and two weeks ago she appeared in Nakili Sessions, where she announced her return.

However, he revealed that he spends most of his time in the Netherlands.

“I’m back singing to you people. In Holland, yes… life is good because now I’m settled. The culture shock doesn’t shock me anymore. Kenya never stops being home. I miss Kenya. Holland has its own situation. It’s different. Home is warm and there’s a little chaos,” he said.

4. Alvan Love

Alvan Gatitu, also known as Alvan Love, rose to fame over the years due to his involvement in the TPF.

He became famous on the show when he chose to save his fellow contestant who later won the season.

The musician joined the media after being eliminated from the show. He became the host of Trace Radio.

He has also gained popularity for his jokes on TikTok and Instagram.

Earlier, Nairobi News reported that Kenyans collected KSh 2 million for Alvan Love after he revealed his 2020 rent arrears.

In 2025, he went viral after a woman exposed him for defaulting on a debt she owed, revealing that she had let him stay at her Airbnb.

5. Patricia Kihoro

Media personality Patricia Kihoro rose to fame as the third runner-up in the music show.

He was Kenya’s sweetheart, and being in the show was the beginning of his journey to success.
