The deceased has been identified as Barang’a Kasigane, popularly known as “Ras,” and was buried at his family home along Tsimbalo Road, near Mbale town.
Who was Barang’a Kasigane?
Friends, family and community members gathered to pay their last respects, many of them shocked by the brutal circumstances surrounding his death.
According to journalist Bruce Kanzika, Ras was a well-known person in the area, described as hardworking, respectful and actively involved in community affairs.
“He was a very gentleman, always ready to help,” said one of the family members while wiping away tears as mourners sang prayers.
The elders of the community led the funeral rites, which included lighting the traditional fire, offering prayers, and observing the customs of the Maragoli community.
