Wamuchomba defended his decision to support Ruto again despite criticizing him in the past.
He attended the meeting of the National Leadership Council (NGC) of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) called by the president at the Nairobi Palace, on Monday, January 26.
Why did Wamuchomba spare Gachagua?
While on the sidelines of the meeting, Wamuchomba officially announced his support for Ruto and confirmed that he has left the Gachagua camp.
In what was seen as a change of position, he said he could not tolerate Gachagua due to his personality, which he suggested was not suitable for a national leader.
He indicated that cooperating with Gachagua was difficult, appearing to reduce the severity of his previous stance against Ruto.
“All I can say is that he has been criticizing one person while he himself is a scoundrel. I really thank President Ruto for tolerating working with Gachagua as deputy president for more than a month. I think Ruto has a spirit of patience,” he said.
Was Wamuchomba given KSh 250 million to change his position?
Responding to critics’ claims that he was lured by money, Wamuchomba gave a sarcastic response saying he joined Ruto’s camp for the benefit of his people.
He explained that he was “bought” for billions of money through development projects implemented by the national government in Githunguri.

“For those who say I was bought for KSh 250 million, it is true, I was bought for billions of money — in the sense of the projects coming in my constituency and my county,” he said.
Proud of his decision, Wamuchomba said development works have already started. He expressed hope that his political partnership with Ruto will strengthen his record of development, mentioning the big projects that have been started in his area.
“Soon you will see what will happen in the roads of Githunguri. There are already six roads and an asphalt project. Right now tractors are on the road. Six new asphalt roads. It has never happened to another member of parliament to start six asphalt projects at the same time. I am sure the people of Githunguri will remember you forever,” he said.
Wamuchomba followed the MP for Juja, George Koimburi, who also withdrew from the Gachagua camp and joined Ruto saying he was looking for development.
Why did George Koimburi leave Gachagua
The Juja Member of Parliament accused the Gachagua camp of being deceitful and harmful to Kenyans, especially from the Mount Kenya area.

Koimburi claimed that Gachagua has turned the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) into a way to get money, charging those who want to run with promises of tickets for the 2027 election.

He also accused Gachagua of using his followers to strengthen his political position while leaving them to face a difficult political environment while he protected himself.
Koimburi said he will now join Ruto’s camp to push forward development projects in Juja.
Predicting criticism for leaving the opposition, he explained that no one left Kenya First who followed him or paid him to change his position.
