Nyeri: Video Shows Gachagua Rushing To A Safe Area Through A Fence After Being Attacked In A Church

A video circulating online shows how the former vice president, Rigathi Gachaguawas moved to a safe place after the attack on the ACK Witima Church in Othaya, Nyeri.

The leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), with his personal guards and several residents, including church leaders, was seen entering the fence.

Who helped the Gachagua community after the Othaya attack?

At the crossing, there were uniformed guards who made sure everyone ran safely.

Another officer also helped the old lady pass through the fence as bullets and tear gas poured from the side of the church.

This happened after violence broke out in the church during a service, leaving several people injured.

Gachagua’s cars were also burned and destroyed.

Inside the church, several people were seen suffocating when the incident happened, and one of the worshipers fell near the altar.

Speaking after reports that he was arrested, Gachagua confirmed his safe rescue and expressed gratitude to God.

Will Gachagua continue his meetings after the Othaya incident?

He asked his supporters waiting for his speech to ‘go home in peace,’ describing the extensive damage to the audio equipment.

“I thank God for his mercy and goodness. I thank the residents of Othaya for helping my personal guards to move me safely. Now I am safe, having arrived at my residence in Wamunyoro. I pray that thousands of my followers who were waiting for Othaya Town and Kiawara to return home in peace, as our cars have been damaged and the audio equipment has been broken,” he said.

He claimed that a group of suspected invaders, backed by the local police, captured the towns of Othaya and Kiawara, where he was planning to hold a campaign rally.

“We don’t know their intentions after they failed to kill me in the church,” he said.

In addition, Gachagua thanked all the leaders and citizens of Kenya for issuing a statement condemning the brutal act thought to be organized by the President William Ruto. “God is in control, and his power is greater than that of William Ruto,” he said.

Did Gachagua’s critic protect him?

At the same time, Gachagua faced criticism from some Kenyans, many arguing that the attack was pre-planned.

In the midst of the scandal, his critic, Chege Majuice, shared a video of what are believed to be policemen in plainclothes firing into a church while making abusive remarks.

He claimed that the photo, which showed ‘policemen’ with AK-47s and a police car stopping, was the work of the government. Majuice warned Kenyans to be careful as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election.

Wiper Leader, Kalonzo Musyokaalso condemned the attack on the DCP leader and accused the government of planning the attack.
