Conflicts within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) are now threatening to break up the party as an extremist group takes over under the watch of Senator Oburu Oginga, the leader of the party.

The group, led by the Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Small Businesses and former Governor of Kakamega Wycliffe Oparanyaturned the Uwezo Fund and the Hustler Fund awareness event in Kakamega into a political platform, openly criticizing the ODM leadership regarding the remarks made during the recent delegates’ meeting.

“The leaders who were given the money have lost it,” Oparanya said.
“What I am witnessing now, I have never seen during the time of the late Raila Odinga.”
Members of the group, which includes Kakamega women’s representative Elsie Muhanda and MPs Nabii Nabwera (Lugari), Fred Ikana (Shinyalu), Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo), Bernard Shinali (Ikolomani), and Christopher Aseka (Khisero), accused ODM leaders of disrespecting and disrespecting Oparanya.
The leaders criticized the statements made by Oburu and the Governor of Kisii, Simba Arati, during the meeting of ODM delegates in Kakamega, where Oparanya was accused of inciting division after attending a parallel political meeting in Butere.
“Oparanya is not the same as you. You cannot come to Kakamega and insult Oparanya. Shame on you,” MP Muhanda said.
“If you come to Kakamega to insult Oparanya, stay in your County. It has many challenges.”
Speaking at the event, Lugari Member of Parliament, Nabii Nabwera, insisted that he remains ODM chairman in Kakamega County, dismissing claims that Governor Fernandes Barasa is holding the post.
