Wangui Ndirangu and Christopher, together with their family, mourned the deaths of Kairo Winkelpleck, Emmanuel Deleon, and their sister, Njeri Deleon, after an accident in Naivasha.
The two boys died on the spot, while Njeri was taken to Nairobi Hospital for treatment, but later died.
In the United States, Hoover Middle School also expressed grief over the deaths of those beloved students and asked their community to raise money for the family.
The same call for a meeting was sent online through a GoFundMe page, where the family said they needed KSh 9 million to start planning.

Why did the family need KSh 9m?
“Although their parents are physically safe, they are now facing the worst nightmare of a parent in a foreign country,” said Lynie Maina.
“The costs associated with the global pandemic are very high. We are asking for the community’s help to cover the medical costs; the costs of essential services and surgery for Njeri’s recovery in Kenya,” said Maina.
According to Maina, the money would also cover funeral expenses, transportation, and support, help parents stay by Njeri’s side during her recovery and cover the sudden cost of emergency supplies for this crisis,” said Maina before Njeri died.

Many people, especially those from Kenya and the United States, worked hard to collect the money, while others sent messages of condolence to the grieving couple.
So far, only a small percentage are left to fulfill their goal, and the family also promised to share funeral plans later.
