President Yoweri Museveni’s son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has sparked outrage after calling Kenya a country of “cowards.”
In a statement he issued on Monday, January 20, Muhoozi claimed that Kenyans like to talk a lot on social media but cannot defend themselves on the battlefield.
Why does Muhoozi Kainerugaba call Kenyans cowards?
Statements of the leader of the defense forces of Uganda occurred after he claimed to have killed 22 opposition leaders and also threatened to end the movement of his father’s main opponent, Bobi Wine.
His comments sparked outrage from Ugandans and Kenyans, who dared to oust the 43-year-old politician whose main political goal was to free the landlocked country from alleged oppression and dictatorship.

“I have noticed that some Kenyans like to wake up a lot but they run fast when the whipping starts,” he wrote.
In addition, some Kenyans were closely following the 2026 Ugandan General Election, while supporting various presidential candidates.
Famous leaders like the Member of Parliament for Embakasi East, Grandfather Owinopublicly announced their support for Bobi, which angered Muhoozi.
Considering that he regularly follows Kenyans, some of them accused him of being too focused on them and always involving Kenya in his affairs.
Others welcomed him to Nairobi.
How Kenyans responded to Muhoozi’s claims:
@sollo2: “One day pride will end. 1. You are not known because your father climbed the mountain. 2. Your father’s shadow cannot cover you in the middle of the day. African proverbs.”
@Patriotickeny17 “Don’t come to Nairobi and do that stupid thing you are doing and see how long you will stay. Even if you leave it, try to sleep in Nairobi and tell us where you slept. Let’s solve this matter and finish it immediately.”
@kelelenamoshi “You are very worried about Kenya. You can stop being Museveni’s son just to be reborn as a Kenyan.”

Did Muhoozi threaten foreigners about the Indian Ocean?
At the same time, weeks ago, the general threatened foreigners who tried to ‘play’ with Uganda a few days after Museveni’s warning about entering the Indian Ocean.
However, after seeing the seriousness of his feelings, the strong leader seemed to cancel his feelings and encourage unity within the East African region.
He stressed that the region must be united and that anyone who opposes that unity is an enemy.
