“We left home together at eleven o’clock in the morning and walked to school. We arrived in the afternoon,” said the 15-year-old boy.

However, shortly after arriving, the situation suddenly changed. When school officials explained the amount of fees required, the father allegedly left quietly.

“I turned to see what my father had to say about the fee, and I realized he was not there,” he narrated.

What does Munyendo’s father do?

The incident has left teachers and other students in shock, while raising concerns about the challenges faced by many families in their efforts to educate their children.

The headmaster of the school confirmed that the boy’s father depends on the business of selling mulberry, a job that is not financially stable and fails even to cover the family’s daily needs.

“He is working hard, but his income is not enough to pay school fees,” the principal explained.

He asked the citizens and good Samaritans to help the boy so that he could be registered and continue his studies without further stress.

At the time of writing this report, the boy was under the temporary care of the school while efforts to secure him a scholarship continued.
