President William Ruto he was received like a king when he visited Nyeri County on Monday, January 12, while promoting various development programs.

The visit involved different parts of the county, which is the home of his political opponent, the former vice president Rigathi Gachagua.
The events brought together several leaders from Mount Kenya, including the Deputy President Kithur Kindiki and Governor Mutahi Kahiga, who openly criticized the Gachagua DCP party despite their initial support.

However, despite the joy, there was a tense moment at the Kabiru-ini ASK Stadium when residents tried to greet the president.
Security officials faced the challenge of maintaining space for the president to reach the stage.
Residents argued to maintain their right to greet the leader of the nation, which caused Ruto to push the security guard aside so that he could interact with the people directly.
The defender of four squares, seemed surprised following the president’s action.
The integration drew praise from some Kenyans who congratulated the president for his availability and his warm heart to people of various backgrounds.

What did Ruto say during his visit to Nyeri?
Speaking at the event, Ruto said the youth must be placed at the center of the national agenda to use their strength, skills, and knowledge for the change of the nation.
He said the government has taken proactive steps to empower young people and create opportunities.
“Through the Affordable Housing Program, jobs abroad, digital jobs and the STAR program, we enable young people to find real opportunities and businesses,” he said.

In that arena, the president launched the provision of KSh 173.2 million as start-up capital to 6,982 entrepreneurs from Nyeri, Murang’a, Nyandarua, and Kirinyaga counties.
He said the STAR program targets 820,000 young people through four pillars: business support, recognition of previous education, training and mentoring, and savings.
