In a statement on X on Monday, January 12, the lawyer noted that Gachagua’s criticism has been well understood by the anger of the residents of Northern Kenya.

The lawyer admitted that poverty is still widespread in Northern Kenya despite the billions of shillings given through devolution by the CDF.

According to the famous lawyer who called himself “grand mullah”, Gachagua’s statements really touched the voters who saw the area failing under the current leadership despite billions of money.

“The issues of massive corruption and the absurd theft of devolved funds by the CDF and the leaders of Northern Kenya are well understood by the poor people of the North. This is really a game changer! Rigathi Gachagua, in his very tactless way, has opened the eyes of the public and shown them that their problem is the work of their leaders alone,” he wrote.

The lawyer explained that many in the region are seeking freedom from what he called “the North’s political thievery.”

“If this debate continues in this direction, Gachagua in 2027 can be invited to the top table by Northern voters who are looking for freedom from the bonds of political theft. Look at this,” he added.

Gachagua to face the leaders of Northern Kenya

These comments come after Gachagua attacked the leaders of Northern Kenya, accusing them of misusing billions of funds allocated to their counties while failing to invest in public institutions, including schools, hospitals, and roads.

He claimed that all counties had the opportunity to establish high-level institutions for the benefit of local and national students, mentioning Western counties, Rift Valley and Mount Kenya.

Gachagua also gave a clear picture of the lack of leadership during his term as deputy president, explaining that he visited the Northern counties and found leaders who did not live or work there.

He claimed that leaders in Northern Kenya received more than KSh 1 trillion from devolution, equity, and CDF funds, but were investing private wealth in Nairobi while neglecting their counties.

Northern leaders, led by Member of Parliament Farah Maalim, responded quickly, stressing that exceptional action in education is still needed.

They identified decades of neglect, insecurity, teacher shortages, and cultural barriers as barriers to local students’ access to quality schools.
