Ex-wife of the broadcaster Willis RaburuMarya Prude, reflects on her divorce journey, five years after leaving her husband.

The former lovers separated in May 2020, shortly after losing their first child in a tragic way, an event that deeply touched Kenyans.

The social media influencer previously shared that he has no plans to have any more children due to a medical condition that forces him to rest in bed for a long time.

He also indicated that he is ready to remarry and would like to find a partner who already has children to be a stepmother.

Willis Raburu and Marya’s divorce took how long?

In an interview with the podcast What’s UpMarya said she did not agree with the reasons given by Raburu for breaking up their marriage, and so she prepared another petition for divorce where she was the complainant.

“Ours was difficult because we filed another petition where I was the plaintiff. I did not agree with the grounds he used to seek a divorce. I had my grounds. My grounds were about marital betrayal.

I think basics are very important. You don’t have to accept it just because you want a divorce. Yes, I know I want a divorce, but he was saying there were irreconcilable differences and lack of marital rights. But even I lacked conjugal rights; we were already separated. So you fight for your position. It may take a long time,” he said.

According to Marya, many people take a long time to end their marriages due to property division issues and child custody struggles.

“For us there were no issues of children or property, but it still took a long time. It was more than a year,” he added.
