His body was found in one of the classrooms on Thursday, January 8.

How was the Nakuru school night guard killed?

He jumped over the fence, and found the body of the guard dead inside the classroom where he usually sleeps.

The guard’s body was bound, and his neck had obvious injuries. It is believed that the killers jumped the school fence before carrying out the brutal act.

Nakuru Town West police commander, Samson Andaje, said an investigation into the incident has already been initiated. Andaje added that when the police arrived at the school, they found the office broken into. It is still unclear if the killers stole anything from the school.

“This incident was not aimed at an individual because the office was broken into. The scene of the incident is being analyzed to determine what may have been stolen from the office,” said the police commander.

The son of the slain guard speaks

The son of the deceased, Dennis Simiyu Onyango, said his father left for work as usual on Wednesday after asking him for some money.

He said that when he asked why he needed the money, the deceased only told him that he would return it to him on Saturday.

Onyango also revealed that he received a call from an unknown number before he got the news of his father’s death. The same number allegedly also called his sister.

“When I woke up today I went to my job as a laborer in London Estate, but around 12 in the morning, a new number called me and the caller said he had a job for me, but I refused. The same number also called my sister, who later called me,” he said.

Onyango said the phone call made them suspicious. The caller allegedly told his sister to meet him at the school where their father was working.

“This issue needs to be investigated in depth because the circumstances of his death are not consistent. He has dedicated himself to educate us up to the university through this work,” he said.

Why is Khalsa Comprehensive School closed?

Meanwhile, the school management said it was closed following the incident.

The chairman of the school board said that due to the concern caused by the incident, they decided to let the students go home to allow the investigation to continue. He said students will be returned to school once the situation is resolved.

“This is a big blow to the school because there was nothing in the school. On behalf of the board, I would like to say sorry to the family, and as a school we ask the police to take immediate action to arrest the perpetrators,” said Bosire.

However, while the police continued with the investigation, some parents blamed the school management for hiring only one security guard to protect the large area of the school. They emphasized the need to hire more night guards.
