Former vice president Rigathi Gachagua has noted that Kenyans are being pushed out of small businesses by foreigners.

Gachagua was in Nairobi on Thursday, January 9, to announce his Democratic Party for the People (DCP) and his presidential bid.
While addressing the public in the markets of Marikiti, Muthurwa and Gikomba, Gachagua noted that the Chinese had driven out the local traders and taken over small businesses.
According to him, the foreigner should engage in big business and leave small businesses to Kenyans.
He suggested that local merchants were being driven out of business by competition from the Chinese.
“Kenyans have become poor because of the Chinese. They have made them bankrupt. It is a big mistake to bring them to do all kinds of business, including the sale of industrial products and shops. It is not that we do not want them in the country, but they should be involved in big business and sell us products from factories,” he said.
