President William Ruto has been surprised by the remarkable performance posted by the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.

The President spoke at the State Hall Eldoret Friday morning, January 9, when he welcomed the Minister of Education Julius Ogamba and other officials of the ministry.
Ogamba informed the president about the results of the high school finalists shortly before the official release.
How Willian Ruto said about KCSE 2025 results
Ruto said the performance was satisfactory, noting that more than 50% of the candidates had safe grades to join universities.
A total of 993,226 candidates wrote the 2025 KCSE between October 21 and November 21 in more than 10,000 centers in the country.
More importantly, the president noted that the most successful were the majority of female candidates.
“In Eldoret State Lodge, Uasin Gishu County, we gave information about the release of the 2025 KCSE Examination that will be released today. We are interested that out of 993,000 candidates, 50% being girls, 270,000 scored C+ and above, and got a chance to enter the university directly,” he said.
However, it is not lost that more female candidates registered for the exam.
A total of 1,932 candidates got A grades.
How the KCSE 2025 exam was administered
The test, along with the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), was conducted through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Education and Home Affairs, which deployed considerable human and security resources to ensure integrity.
In total, 342,687 contracted employees, including facility managers, supervisors, supervisors, and ministry officials, were tasked with administering the three examinations.

The Ministry of Education recognized the challenge posed by fake exam papers circulating online, with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) making arrests across the country.
How to check KCSE result 2025
At the same time, Safaricom has invited candidates and parents to monitor their performance digitally.
A major telecom company launched a shortcode platform for candidates to get their results.
To get the results, candidates can send their index numbers to 20076, with each SMS charged at KSh 25.
Considering the results, the acting chief executive officer of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Everlyn Mitei, advised the candidates to see the results not as an end, but as a foundation on which they would build the next phase of their lives.
He urged them to stay focused, remain curious, and continue to pursue excellence.

Mitei assured parents that teachers are ready to receive students joining high school from Monday, January 12.
He explained that teachers were well equipped with the competencies, skills and confidence needed to meet the diverse learning needs of Competency Based Education (CBE) students.
Mitei asked the heads of institutions in secondary schools to expand the curriculum.
He added that, the facilities allow, they knew some institutions did not have the necessary facilities to ensure that students entering high school have the necessary resources to explore their abilities in all areas of the curriculum.
According to him, TSC is determined to address the shortage of teachers in the new learning areas.
