Wamuchomba cried after the Senate voted to remove Gachagua from power, who at the time was admitted to Karen Hospital due to severe chest pain.
He fell ill minutes before presenting his defense, which forced a temporary suspension of the Senate’s deliberations.
After several hours, the Senate returned to the session and voted to impeach him.
The decision killed his supporters, while many wondered why the leader who was in the hospital was removed so quickly.
Among those who were shocked by interests was Wamuchomba, who has since emerged as a strong critic of Gachagua, now the leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
Why did Gathoni Wamuchomba leave Gachagua?
Reflecting on the moment, she admitted her feelings but said she later gained clarity.
“Why did I cry when Rigathi Gachagua was removed from power? It’s true, I really cried. But after three weeks, my tears stopped and I started the road to Damascus (my eyes are open). I must say it clearly. Let’s plan!” he said.
Wamuchomba also denied critics who claimed he was a government employee working against Gachagua’s political goals. “For those who say ‘he is a spy,’ come and get 411 (full information) and I will make it clear.
There is a lot of blame, but that is the food of politics. I take no prisoners: 2027 does not belong to any father — it belongs to God alone,” he affirmed.
Despite his firm stance, opinion among Kenyans was still divided. Some continued to criticize him, others encouraged him to remain firm in his beliefs.

How did the Kenyans respond to the position of Muchomba?
@BrianMPeter said: “Mhesh, you have decided to start 2026 with courage. That is how I really appreciate you, Gathoni. You have strongly refused to bow down to the deposed leader, Gachagua. Please continue to warn the people of Mt. Kenya that the deposed leader cannot hold any public position, and therefore, cannot lead our people. His only intention is to sell the people of Mt. Kenya using Cleophas Malala Maskio’s party as a cover. God bless you, Mhesh.”
@FW_Babayao said: “In politics, everyone has the right to have their opinion. Stand on the political side you believe in, as long as it serves the best interests of our dear Kenyans.”
@KenyNBlogg said: “You come in slowly, leave this showbiz.”
@ItsMartinChege said: “Nambaya, you are Ruto’s puppet and spy!”
@MakauWaMuli said: “2027 will be tears. One political mistake will do irreparable damage. Munyoro-Wamuchomba may end up like my grandfather’s cat fighting an eagle in the sky.”
How did Wamuchomba answer Gachagua about the students?
However, the fierce member of parliament had previously criticized Gachagua following his call to enroll all Mount Kenya students in national schools with high ranking in the area.
He wondered how such a leader would unite the country if elected president.
Wamuchomba insisted that Gachagua should not use the ethnic card to prevent students from accessing national schools.
Gachagua had claimed disruption in the government and claimed that some students from Kiambu were placed in day schools as far as Kericho while some girls were placed in boys’ schools.
