On Thursday, January 8, Ruto and senior government officials were in Uasin Gishu County during the NYOTA event Business Start-Up Capital Disbursement.
NYOTA is a government project supported by the World Bank, which aims to empower disadvantaged youth through skills training, vocational training, business support and financial education.

Can Ruto play?
During the event in Eldoret, the President was seen wearing a more casual style, of white trousers, a black shirt and a bomber jacket, unlike his usual suits.
When the music started, Ruto joined the youths present, ministers and other leaders, playing the song Donjo Maber as it was played by the DJ.
Assistant to the director of protocol and events in the Office of the President, Chipukeezyled the dance ceremony, encouraging the President to dance.
Ruto was seen dancing boldly, crawling from side to side and at one point almost falling to the ground along with the dance steps, getting cheers from the crowd.
Chipukeezy was praised for his words about the strength and rhythm of the President.
“Wasee wase, our president is fire not fire, it is fire not fire, it is either or not,” he said, which caused great cheers from the attendees.
In his speech, Ruto encouraged young people to enroll in the STAR programme, explaining that it is designed to improve their lives.
He also told them not to pay attention to the propaganda related to the project.
The President also encouraged the youth to avoid alcohol and drugs, stressing his recent commitment to combat the habit throughout the country.
