His now wife, who is originally from Hannover, Germany, was also working with a Christian organization at the time.

Did Gideon’s family object to his marrying a white woman?

The young man attributed his marriage to what he called the hand of God, realizing that without faith, the union would hit the rock.

He explained that he comes from a very caring society and had been warned before he left Kenya to study in Israel against bringing a white wife home.

In addition to opposition from his own family, Tabea also faced concerns from his side, making their relationship more difficult.

When they fell in love, these cultural barriers stood in their way, but they chose to fight for their relationship and remain committed to each other.

Over time, both families slowly accepted the union.

In November 2025, Kirui traveled back to Kenya with his fiance for his official introduction, after which they started planning their wedding.

“He had heard many bad stories about white women who married black men, as well as the common racial stereotypes that exist. However, through Christ and the help of our parents, friends, and church leaders, we were able to overcome these cultural and conceptual barriers to start a family and unite in holy matrimony,” he said.
