Alai questioned his political maturity and his suitability to advise the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on the direction of the party.

Speaking in an interview with Radio 47 on Tuesday, January 6, Alai dismissed Winnie’s recent statements about ODM politics, saying he has not yet reached the political level required to lead or advise the party.

“Winnie’s words are not the gospel. They are not the Bible. So we must also criticize her and tell her that she is not capable. She has not reached the level of telling us or advising us the best way because even she herself does not understand,” said Alai.

Alai claims that Winnie Odinga lacks political maturity

The popular MCA said that Winnie turned against the leadership of ODM immediately after her uncle, Oburu Oginga, was appointed to lead the party following the death of the founder of ODM, Raila Odinga.

According to Alai, this behavior shows a lack of political maturity and respect for the party’s internal systems.

Alai also said that political maturity is seen through self-restraint and wisdom, especially when it comes to family and party issues.

“I can’t go and start arguing with my father or my uncle in public saying I don’t agree with his political leadership. There is a private aspect of family matters that you have to protect from the public. That shows a level of maturity. So when I hear Winnie speak some words, I’m not convinced that she’s mature enough to be taken seriously,” he added.

Kileleshwa MCA also gave a strong warning to ODM Secretary General, Edwin Sifunawho in recent months has appeared to disagree with the decision of some members of the party to support President William Ruto in his bid for re-election in 2027.

Alai tells Sifuna and Winnie to leave ODM

Alai warned Sifuna against relying on Winnie’s support to counter the direction of party members, stressing that the two leaders should consider leaving ODM if they are not ready to go along with the party’s position.

“If his dependence is that Winnie supports him, then I will say that he and Winnie should decide to leave the party and leave it to us. If they are not careful, they will know that ODM lives in our hearts,” he warned.

To clarify his point, Alai referred to former ODM members who were previously in the FORD-Kenya party led by Moses Wetang’ula, saying that when they left, they went with the party’s support.

“Some of us were in FORD-Kenya, and when we left, we went with the party in our hearts. Wetang’ula remained with the name of the party without supporters,” said Alai, warning that ODM may face a similar situation if internal conflicts are not handled properly.
