The Venezuelan government reported that the attacks were not limited to the capital but also targeted the provinces of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira.
The affected areas included important military facilities and infrastructure, such as the Fuerte Tiuna military base, the La Carlota airbase, the El Volcán signal antenna, and the port of La Guaira.
In areas south of Caracas, near major military bases, witnesses reported blackouts coinciding with the attacks.
What steps did Maduro take in response to US military aggression?
In response, Maduro declared a state of “external conflict” under the constitution and national security laws, giving the government extraordinary powers to mobilize the military, police, and civilians.
Maduro condemned what he described as massive military aggression by the President’s administration Donald Trump and called for joint efforts to protect the nation’s freedom.
“Civilians and the military are deployed together to ensure the protection of the people and the continuity of the state,” the government said.
The Venezuelan government called on its supporters to take to the streets following the military offensive, describing it as an “imperialist attack” aimed at grabbing Venezuela’s oil and mineral resources.
“People come to the streets! The Bolivarian government calls on all the social and political forces in the country to activate mobilization programs and reject this imperialist attack,” read the statement as reported by CBS.
What action has Trump taken against Maduro?
The Maduro administration also announced that the government will submit a formal complaint to the UN Security Council, the UN Secretary General, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), and the Non-Aligned Movement.
The strikes come after months of escalating tensions between the Trump administration and Maduro’s government.

Why does the United States oppose Maduro’s leadership?
Trump has repeatedly called for Maduro to leave office, pressuring the Venezuelan leader to resign, and publicly warning that it would be “wise” for him to leave.
The United States has also embargoed Venezuelan oil, expanded sanctions, and carried out more than two dozen attacks against ships allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the Pacific and Caribbean.
