Environmentalist and wildlife activist Truphena Muthoni has given an update on her Guinness World Record attempt in 2025, revealing why her challenge to hug a tree for 72 hours has yet to be officially recognised.

The 22-year-old went viral after attempting to break her own record by hugging a tree for the longest time.

Was Truphena’s Guinness World Record verified?

In February, Truphena successfully completed a 48-hour tree-hugging challenge, and has now finally received her official Guinness World Record badge for the feat.

She shared her excitement on social media, saying:

“I’m already very happy for this year. I received my record breaking badge and I feel very excited. I’m very happy, I just want to say thank you to God because this is really amazing.”

Why hasn’t Truphena’s latest record attempt been confirmed?

Truphena also explained that his attempt to hug a tree for 72 hours has not yet been officially recognized because he has not submitted the required evidence to Guinness.

“I’m still waiting for my 72-hour test to be confirmed. It’s a lot of work, I have to share the video, I have people writing witness statements and timekeeper statements. All of that will be finished by this week, and when I present it, it will take about five days, so we’ll be celebrating,” he said.

He also teased fans about the upcoming Guinness World Record attempts he has planned for the new year, promising more excitement to come.
