Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta attended the funeral of Cyrus Jirongo at Shakhalaga Khwa Jirongo in Lumakanda, Kakamega county.

Jirongo died after a fatal accident when his Mercedes-Benz car hit a bus.
The former president wore an all black dress as he joined his family and friends to give the late former Lugari MP.
When Uhuru arrived at the funeral, he was seen exchanging greetings with other leaders such as the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula, KANU Chairman Gideon Moi, and the Prime Minister Stay Mudavadi among others.
He was surrounded by local MP Nabi Nabwera and mourners shouted and clapped as they looked at the former head of state and his security team.

Uhuru was not the only one who received a big cheer when he arrived for Jirongo’s funeral. Senator from Nairobi Edwin Sifuna he also received loud applause.
Sifuna arrived for the funeral when Peter Salasya was honoring the former MP on the stage. There was shouting and cheering when Sifuna arrived.
Salaysa had to cut her speech short and pause as she welcomed Sifuna to the funeral ceremony before continuing on her journey.
