High Court Judge Mohammed Ibrahim Is Dead, JSC Confirms

The court has been thrown into mourning following the death of High Court judge Mohammed Ibrahim, SCJ.

Justice Ibrahim served on the bench with unmatched grace and sublime intelligence.

According to Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Faith Odhiambo, Mohammed’s rare composure showed a man who fully understood the mandate of the judiciary as a call to serve, and justice as an important tool for maintaining social stability.

His death is a great loss to the Supreme Court, the Judiciary, and the administration of justice in Kenya.

“Judge Ibrahim was a great source of inspiration for all who dared to dream,” Odhiambo said.

He noted that he was the first person from the Kenyan-Somali community to be accepted as a lawyer at a time when his community was among the most marginalized in Kenyan society.

He devoted most of his early career to defending human rights and promoting the values ​​of a just and equal society.

Odhiambo said he carried his record of quality and ethical conduct during his almost a decade as a High Court judge.

Since he joined the first bench of the High Court of Kenya, Judge Mohammed established himself as an independent voice and reasoned.

He added that his contributions to Kenyan law revealed great knowledge, depth of character, and unwavering commitment to advancing the law.

He will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to work with him.

“May his soul rest in peace, and may eternal light shine upon him,” he said.
