Jirongo died in a tragic accident on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway on the morning of Saturday, December 13, when his luxury Mercedes-Benz collided head-on with a bus.
His body was later transported to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi, where family and friends gathered to pay their last respects.
Who were Cyrus Jirongo’s wives?
After his unexpected death, Jirongo’s family started making plans for his last funeral.
On Sunday, December 14, mourners turned out at his home, where his three wives were seen in public for the first time since his death. It is worth mentioning that Jirongo openly accepted polygamy.
Earlier this year, during the funeral of his daughter, Lorraine Jelagat, he admitted that he had four wives.
The politician and Lorraine’s mother, Caroline, separated, and he found love again.
Jirongo openly admitted that he was involved in their breakup, jokingly saying “it was because of his big rolling eyes.”
At the mourning session on Sunday, Christine, one of his wives, addressed the guests saying:
“We are all shocked and still processing this news. We are speechless. Thank you all for being with us,” he said, also wanting clarification on the circumstances of Jirongo’s death.
Another wife, Anne Kanini, echoed Christine’s words and thanked mourners for their unwavering support.
Another wife, also known as Ann, expressed her grief as she welcomed guests:
“His disappearance happened suddenly, it is a big blow, but we also feel his love because he loved his family very much. Although we feel the pain, we are comforted by the love he showed us. We want to thank you because it would have been very heavy without your help.”

Condolences poured in from supporters who remembered the late politician’s contribution and offered condolences to his family.

What did Jirongo’s family say about his death?
In related news, Jirongo’s family questioned the official report of his fatal road accident.
They said he was returning home to Gigiri after leaving Karen on the night of Friday, December 12.
Police reports indicated that he was on his way to Nairobi, which contradicted the family’s account.
The spokesperson of the family, Fred Gumo, expressed concern over the unexplained circumstances surrounding the accident, calling for clarification on the events that led to the tragedy.
