As the nation bids farewell to the politician who was famous for his strong statements, a video of Jirongo recounting the tragic death of his daughter’s American lover has resurfaced.
The video, recorded during an earlier interview on Jeff Koinange’s talk show, shows Jirongo narrating the horrific details of how his daughter’s boyfriend was shot and killed in Nairobi.
How did the shooting incident of Jirongo’s daughter’s boyfriend happen?
According to Jirongo, the incident happened when the couple were on their way to an appointment on Riara Road.
Jirongo explained that someone had sent threatening messages to his daughter, Sally, warning her to keep quiet.
He claimed that the attackers, who were on a motorcycle, ambushed the couple. One of the attackers asked the young man to hand over the laptop he was holding.
When Chase refused and tried to protect Sally from the gun, the attackers pointed the gun at her and shot her, killing her instantly.
“I have my phone here, Jeff. There is a message I would like you to read. Then I will explain about the message. This message was sent to my daughter, Sally. She was on Riara Road with her boyfriend, an American. They were going to have tea at the intersection. A motorcycle came with two people and passed them. Then it stopped and waited for them… someone pulled out a gun and asked the American boy to hand over the computer he was holding. The boy asked why. They turned the gun and pointing at my daughter. Then he stepped in and pushed my daughter away from the muzzle of the gun. They turned and shot him… Finally, the boy died.” Jirongo told.

How Jirongo feared for his daughter’s mental health
Jirongo continued to express his grief about the psychological injuries his daughter went through after the attack. Sally traveled to America to bury her boyfriend and has not returned yet.
He added that, despite his daughter not being involved in politics, the threatening message was probably aimed at her.
“But what bothers me the most is the psychological wounds that the girl is going through. She went to bury her lover in America. She has not returned yet… My daughter is not in politics, so why should she be silent?” said Jirongo.
The former Cabinet minister then raised concerns about his own safety, suggesting that the message may have been aimed at him.
“The message was definitely aimed at me. Has the political killings returned?” he questioned.
