Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Oburu Oginga has assured Kenyans that the party will remain firmly committed to the broad-based political arrangement with President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), dismissing speculation of an imminent fallout.

Speaking on Monday, December 15, Oburu said ODM would honour the vision of the late Raila Odinga by continuing to work within the broad-based framework of the Kenya Kwanza government until the end of President Ruto’s term.

“This is the first time we are in Eldoret since my brother Raila passed on. I want to urge you, let us go on with the work of uniting Kenyans as envisioned by Raila, who left us in the broad-based government,” Oburu said.

Reaffirming the party’s loyalty to the pact, Oburu insisted that ODM has no intention of abandoning the arrangement.

“Sisi sio chama ya kubanduka. Kama vile Raila alituacha kwa broad-based government, tutafanya kazi na President Ruto mpaka mwisho wa 2027. Chama yetu si Chama ya kubanduka.”

The ODM leader also called on young Kenyans to actively participate in the democratic process by registering as voters and collecting their voting credentials ahead of the next general election.

“Vijana, naomba mchukue kura msiwe tu watu wakusema ODM bila kura. Kura ndio sauti yako, na hio ndio habari nilitaka kuwapa leo.”

Wanga Backs Broad-Based Government

ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga echoed Oburu’s remarks while addressing party delegates in Eldoret, where she accompanied him alongside Deputy Party Leader Simba Arati.

Wanga praised the broad-based government for fostering national unity, describing the arrangement between Raila Odinga and President Ruto as a timely intervention that has helped stabilise the country.

“I want to ask youths to join this party inside the broad-based government and move forward. The call by Raila Odinga and President Ruto to bring the people of this nation together was a timely intervention, and we are in support of that arrangement,” she said.

She also confirmed that the party leadership convened a delegates’ meeting aimed at strengthening internal cooperation and reinvigorating inclusivity within ODM.

“Alongside ODM Party Leader Senator Dr Oburu Oginga and Deputy Party Leader Governor Simba Arati, we engaged in extensive discussions with @TheODMparty delegates and grassroots officials from Uasin Gishu County in Eldoret City.

“The meeting served as a constructive dialogue aimed at fostering cooperation and revitalising our party inclusively,” Wanga posted on X.
