One photo showed workers installing tiles inside the grave as family members and neighbors watched in silence, each feeling the pain of being reminded that the man who once ruled the radio waves will soon be laid to rest here.

As preparations continue at his village residence, Amimo’s body is still at the Nairobi Funeral Home, where it is being kept pending transfer to the County of Poisonous.

According to information obtained by TUKO.co.ke, funeral plans are being prepared by his family in collaboration with KBC and community leaders.

The grave that is being prepared in Awasi has become the center of mourners, being a symbol of sadness and also of closing the page of life.

Kenyans console Festus Amimo’s family

Villagers have been coming in droves to pay their respects, standing in silence near the grave before joining the family in prayer.

Online, fans and listeners have also been expressing their grief, sharing memories of the broadcaster whose voice was part of their daily lives.

Many say it is hard to believe that the same person who used to greet them every day in the air will soon be laid under the soil that is being dug in Awasi.

As the tomb nears completion, it stands as a silent but powerful testament to the end of a life dedicated to storytelling, leadership and service.

How did Festus Amimo die?

Amimo died in the early hours of Sunday, December 7, after allegedly collapsing at a hotel in Nairobi.

His death was later confirmed by Mayienga FM, an indigenous language radio station owned by the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), through a heartbreaking announcement on social media.

Apart from his broadcasting work, Amimo was also the chairman of Jofwambo Welfare Association, a role that put him at the center of social issues.

The party confirmed his death and noted that plans are underway to ensure he is given a dignified burial.

How Amimo’s wife heard the news of his death

Amimo’s wife, Rose Achieng’ Ong’udi, recounted the sad moment when she was informed of her husband’s death.

The pregnant widow revealed that on the day of the incident, her husband went out to enjoy the night but did not return, which was unusual for her.

At half past nine in the morning, the mother of three received a phone call that changed her and their children’s lives forever.
