The driver of the Climax Coach bus that collided with the Mercedes-Benz of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo in a fatal early morning accident has narrated what happened.

The former Member of Parliament and former minister died in a road accident that occurred in the Karai area of ​​the county Nakuru when, on his way to Nairobi, he collided with the oncoming Climax Coach bus, causing his death on the spot.

How the accident that killed Cyrus Jirongo happened

The bus driver now narrates that Jirongo had left the gas station shortly before the accident.

He claimed that the former member of parliament lost control after exiting the petrol station and immediately moved into his lane trying to avoid traffic in the direction of Nairobi.

“And so he entered my path, where I was, and we collided head-on. He was the only one in his car. My bus had 65 passengers, all of whom were heading to Busia from Nairobi,” he said.

The driver, who has worked with Climax Coach for eight years, claimed he tried to avoid the accident but was worried that the bus would crash badly.

“I wanted to avoid an accident, but I saw that my car might have an accident. So I stepped on it, but it came and collided with the bus,” he said.

The driver noted that he would only find out later, when the police were at the scene of the accident, that the injured person in the Mercedes car was a former member of parliament.

“I send my condolences,” he said.

On his part, the president described Jirongo as his friend, a swindler, an experienced businessman, and a perfect politician who refused to be defined by any challenge he faced.

“Above all, he was generous to a fault; he was willing to give, lift, and support others with his time, resources, and faith. He never shied away from a radical position or a big idea, he lived on his own terms and left an indelible mark on our political landscape. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time,” the head of state said.

The sad pictures show that the car of the former member of parliament was completely damaged in the collision, while the damaged front part of the car shows the severity of the accident.

Police said the accident happened at 3am.
