Nairobi – The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned Kenyans about the weather in the next five days.

In a statement on Friday, December 12, the meteorologist warned of moderate to heavy rains in key areas for the next five days.
Which places will get rain in the next 5 days?
The meteorologist has predicted a cold night in the higher areas and high temperatures during the day in the northeastern counties.
In its weather advisory for the weekend, Kenya Met said the rains are likely to occur in seven areas, namely Central Kenya and Western Rift Valley, Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, North-East, Coast, and South-East of the Lower Valley.
The meteorologist warned that heavy rain is expected to gradually increase in several areas as the forecast period continues. “Good news: rain is likely in several parts of the country through the weekend, as shown on the map. Rain is expected in the Highlands to the east and west of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Northeast, the Coast region and the Southeast Lowlands, with the amount gradually increasing as the forecast period progresses.
A meteorologist said strong southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5 meters/s) are expected in Turkana and Marsabit counties.

Central Region of Kenya
The counties in this area are Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi counties.
Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley and Western Kenya
Rains are expected to fall in the counties of Siaya, PoisonousHomabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot.
North East Region
Moderate rainfall is expected in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties.
Lowland in the South-East
This region includes the counties of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta, as well as the inner parts of Tana-River County.
Beach
The counties in this area are Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale counties, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River county.

In a previous incident, Kenya Met issued an advisory that was designed to help Kenyans in areas that are expected to receive heavy rain.
The first step was that residents should ensure that they do not drive in moving water, saying that it would endanger their lives.
Second, residents were advised against standing under trees, near grills or windows, or in moving water to reduce the risk of being struck by lightning.
The advisory was issued to reduce the number of victims affected by the expected heavy rain.
