In his argument, he questioned why the agenda was set to expire in March 2026 instead of 2027, pointing out that Raila gave Ruto less time to implement reforms.
“Raila Odinga had a plan to make Ruto a one-term president. He would run for the presidency, and the 10-point agenda was part of that plan,” Kanchory said.
Kanchory further emphasized that Raila did not join the wider government or ask his supporters to support the president, but instead provided experts to help in the stability of the country after protest of the violence of June 2024.
“Raila did not leave us in government. He left Ministers John Mbadi, Opiyo Wandayi, Hassan Joho, and Wycliffe Oparanya in government,” Kanchory said while ignoring ODM leaders saying “they would stay where Raila left them.”

“The 10-point agenda was not one that ODM should have pursued together with the UDA, but the demands that Raila expected the Kenya First administration to implement,” he said.
The lawyer further claimed that genuine ODM supporters have not crossed over to the primary government.
“The bottom line was not Raila’s idea. It was the ‘parasite’ idea. They are very few and now they are very visible. You can count them,” he claimed.
He claimed that supporting Ruto for ODM in 2027 would lead to the end of the party, while appointing their presidential candidate would make them stronger.
Will ODM withdraw from a broad-based government?
Meanwhile, Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi previously criticized ODM members who were praising the president despite being aware of the schedule to be in a broad-based government.
He claimed that the former prime minister had a history of cooperating with functioning governments but would leave a year before the general election. He said that the trend would have happened if Raila was alive.
According to Amisi, Raila said that the plan would end on March 9, 2026.
