During the church service in Kasarani on Sunday, December 7, Gachagua told how President William Ruto has been trying to persuade the former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka join the government side.

Should ODM join the Opposition before 2027?

The former deputy head claimed that the government has been trying to create a rift between him and Kalonzo after failing to get the Wiper leader’s support.

“There have been many efforts by Ruto to convince Kalonzo to be on his side. If that fails, they think that they can drive a wedge between me and Kalonzo Musyoka! I want to prove that my cousin here cannot betray the people of Kenya,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua said that the United Opposition is clear in its strategy and will present one candidate to oppose him Ruto in the 2027 election.

The leader of the Democratic Party for the People (DCP) urged the Orange Party, led by Senator Oburu Oginga to join and work closely with the United Opposition.

How will the opposition coalition share seats in Nairobi county?

For example, Gachagua said trust and cooperation among opposition leaders remains important in many election opportunities in Nairobi.

He said that DCP and Wiper will have a planned dialogue on sharing the election opportunities in Nairobi county to ensure the Union of Kenya First you don’t win any seat.

“In Nairobi, Wiper is very popular. For a long time, they have supported ODM. Therefore, we have said, there is no way that we will fight in a friendly manner. There is no way that Wiper will fight with DCP or DAP K. Where Wiper is strong, DCP will support Wiper. Where DCP is strong, we will ask Wiper to support DCP and in that process we will win all the seats in Nairobi,” Gachagua said.

The former Mathira MP warned that if ODM sticks with Ruto, it will lose its popularity across the country, including Nairobi.

He said that if the leaders of the Orange Party are afraid of him, then they should consider involving Kalonzo directly as long as the opposition defeats Ruto.

“We don’t want to exclude ODM. We are saying please, ODM. You have been helped by Kalonzo for a long time. Now if you leave Kalonzo and go to Ruto, will you not get lost? We say come, let’s stay close. Even if you don’t want to stay with me, can’t you stay with Kalonzo, who you have been with for fifteen years?” he asked himself.

Will ODM support Ruto in 2027?

As previously reported, there has been a split in the ODM party over whether they will support Ruto in 2027 or not.

The team approaching Ruto maintained that, insisting that that is where Raila left them and that if he was alive, he would have continued the same way.

On the other hand, another group announced that cooperation with Ruto will be included in the 10-point agenda signed by their leader, eliminating any possibility of supporting the president’s bid for re-election.

In an attempt to approve orders in ODM, Oburu said that the party will remain focused on cooperation with the Ruto government until 2027, when it will decide whether to merge or go its separate way.
