The incident happened while he was paying respects to his late sister, forcing him to stop his speech until the mourners calmed down.
Despite his anger, the politician continued walking, greeting his colleagues.
Once calm was restored, Ruth warned that such behavior was shameful and unacceptable, especially at the funeral of a peaceful woman who had never participated in politics.
“We had hoped that we would perform her last rites in the peace she loved until some political actors decided to use the opportunity to show their political muscles, arriving at the end and causing unnecessary violence. This was a shame. Beryl is a special person, a woman who loved without compromise. She loved peace, and at the same time, she was energetic,” he explained.
Following these remarks, some Kenyans criticized Ruth, reminding her that her late brother, a former ODM party leader, would also arrive late at the funeral and sometimes cause violence.
Others claimed that sarcasm and loud reception were part of Raila’s presence at events, including funerals, and people were used to it.

At the same time, many Kenyans comforted Ruth, realizing the pain she was going through after she described her close relationship with her late sister.

A few hours later, Ruth responded to the response, clarifying that her remarks were not directed at anyone in particular.
He further accused his critics of denying him the opportunity to mourn his sister.
