Georgina Margaret Oketch died on Saturday, December 6, after a short illness.

How ODM praised Georgina Oketch

Oketch spent time in the Siaya County Assembly as a nominated member and, until his death, was a member of the disabled people’s party ODM.

The party hailed him as a dedicated member who had made significant contributions to the party’s activities.

“We mourn the death of Hon. Georgina Margaret Oketch, a member of the ODM Disabled League and a former MCA appointed to the Siaya County Assembly, after a short illness. We have lost a dedicated member of the party whose great contribution will be missed. Rest in peace,” the party announced.

Oketch died just a few weeks after joining other ODM members in the party’s 20th anniversary celebration.

“He was a man with physical disabilities and scratches. May his soul rest forever. His last event was ODM@20 Mombasa. Rip comrade,” said Benson Mungu, the party’s youth director.

In other news, the 13th parliament lost an MP again.

On Saturday, December 6, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula announced the death of MP-elect Denar Hamisi Joseph.

How an elected member of parliament met his sad end

Hamisi died after his car crashed into a tree in Karen, shortly after leaving his home.

Witnesses reported that the congressman was driving alone on the morning of Saturday, December 6, when his white SUV lost control, entered a ditch, and hit a tree.

A person revealed that when he arrived at the scene, the MP was unconscious and bleeding, with his head stuck in the car door.

A witness said they tried to free him and considered calling the police, but by the time officers arrived, the body had already been removed.

He explained that Hamisi did not survive the accident, after suffering severe head injuries and bleeding profusely.

The witness noted that together with other people who were nearby, they managed to remove the body from the wreckage before the police arrived to protect the scene and take it away.

The car, which sustained extensive damage to its front, was later towed to the police station, and the wreckage was towed to the police station.

How Moses Wetang’ula mourned MP Hamisi

Hamisi was born in Mombasa county and had joined parliament through the former Amani National Congress (ANC), which at the time was under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Stay Mudavadi.

Wetang’ula paid tribute to Hamisi, noting that he was a dedicated and diligent member of parliament who prioritized the interests of the National Assembly and ordinary citizens.

He offered his condolences to the bereaved family and friends, conveying a message of comfort from the parliament and said that Hamisi will be remembered for his humility and his dedication to public service.
